What causes loose tiles?
A common cause of loose tiles is poor adhesion between the tile itself and the mounting surface. In rooms where water and humidity are a problem, loose tiles can lead to mold or even unpleasant odors.
Here are a few examples of different problems and their solutions:
- Premature installation on lightweight concrete before shrinkage has occurred.
- How to correct this: Once the concrete surface has hardened and a hollow area has formed, inject ADIN so that the problem disappears completely.
- Lack of preparation of the tile or mounting surface.
- How to correct this: If a surface has not been cleaned or primed properly before installation, ADIN should be sprayed in afterwards. The adhesive also acts as a primer, ensuring optimal adhesion.
- Wrong choice of tile adhesive. Tile adhesive dries out quickly when used on large tiles.
- How to correct this: If there has been an attempt to match natural stone with the poor adhesion of tiles or similar, use ADIN's free-flowing properties to fill any remaining air pockets by injecting the adhesive directly under the tile.
- Ignoring the package's prescribed "waiting time" when opening.
- Ignoring best practice techniques.
- Do not turn off the underfloor heating.
- This can easily cause the adhesive to not set properly. If this happens, simply inject ADIN to restore proper adhesion.
